An Analysis of Limitations of L2 Sentence Auditory Comprehension from Representational Dimensions
The characteristics of language, such as sound, form, meaning, and use,are stored in long-term memory in the form of concepts, which are referred to as language representation.Communicative speech is transmitted through sound waves and is fleeting;L2 listeners must efficiently decode what they hear in order to achieve semantic integration. However, there are many factors that contribute to difficulties in L2 listening. In combination with the linguistic feature level and the psychological representation dimension, this paper analyzes the psycholinguistic factors of L2 hearing limitation by comparing the differences in bilingual representation, focusing on L2 representation memory established by second speakers in the process of acquisition.Lexical and semantic representation and syntactic representation are three different aspects to analyze how the characteristics of L2 representation cause the difficulty in listening comprehension of L2 sentences.
