Liu Shiying's Idea of City Management and the Vision of Suzhou's Urban Planning
The paper discovers that Liu Shiying advocated and upheld the idea of city management,including his awareness of environmentally effected behaviors,advanced knowledge and techniques of planning,and consciousness of city management.The infrastructure development plan of Suzhou that he designed accordingly contained more contents regarding overall plan and implementation,which actually can be regarded as the Vision of Suzhou's Urban Planning and preliminary planning practices.Such exploration of comprehensive planning which broke through municipal engineering thoughts demonstrated the input of architects in the promotion in modern Chinese urban planning.
