Adherence to and Ideal of"Scale"Humanistic Care of Urban Residential Design between the 1950s and 1990s
Between the 1950s and 1990s,China's social environment changed rapidly, and in the two periods before and after the reform policy was adopted, urban residential design had different focuses due to changes of sociopolitical, economic and other factors.By sorting out the scale of residential design in different contexts, this paper argues that architects had adhered to reasonable scale in the social context of collectivist pursuit, modestly modified the grand scale of Soviet experience and the tight scale of economic constraints in residential design, and practiced the ideal of appropriate scale after the return of individual concept. In this way,it proposes that the adjustment of"scale"represents architects'humanistic concern in urban residential design.
