From Realistic Observation to Design GenerationExploring Progressive Teaching of Second-Year of Undergraduate Architecture Course at Tianjin University
Guiding the students to integrate realistic observation with the design process as an emphasis of teaching practice,the second-year undergraduate architecture course at Tianjin University aims to explore four dimensions of articulated connections:those between topics,those between topics and tasks,those between observation and design methods,and those between observation/analytical tools and design tools.This approach helps students understand the complexity of architecture from the perspectives of place,behavior,and materiality/atmosphere,to foster creative thinking habits.
