Difference and Development of the Living Space of Chinese and Japanese Upper-Class Residences between the 10th and 12th Centuries from the Perspective of Sitting Gesture
This paper compares the furniture combination of the living space in Chinese and Japanese traditional upper-class residences,and analyzes the subtle differences and changes in renaming,rearranging,and creative use of various types of furniture in the course of transmission.It aims to include the body in discussion as a crucial characteristic to differentiate various cultures,and to deepen the understanding of the origin and development of East Asian residences,which goes beyond the technical discussion of stylistic evolution to offer a new perspective for existing Chinese scholarship on the theory of comprehensive influence of architectural culture on Japan.
