Co-Evolution:Group-Making in the Regeneration of Nantou Old Town
Nantou Old Town in Shenzhen is in a chaotic state due to the overlap of time, space, and social groups.Based on the convention and principles of"informal architecture",this paper analyzes case studies of three spatial groups:street interfaces, green spaces, and terraces. The paper reveals the approach of using spatial groups as the morphological unit of regeneration, arguing that hidden order can activate new spatial groups. The joint approval mechanism, cluster design, community relations, and other issues relevant to the co-evolutionary regeneration of Nantou Old Town are also discussed.
