From County Seat to Urban Village:A Brief Housing History of a Local Family in Nantou Old Town

摘要
从深圳南头古城一个当地家族四代人近百年的建宅经历入手,考察了传统民居在自建房模式下走向现代化、公寓化的完整历程和内在动力,展现了中国住宅革命的另一路径,并关注到城中村非正规住房形塑背后的华南城镇人居传统经验,及香港的全方位影响.
Abstract
By presenting the century-long housing practice of a local family in Nantou Old Town,this paper reviews the self-help modernization of traditional dwellings and subsequently their in-situ transformation into tenements for migrants when rapid urbanization took place from 1990s,showing an alternative way of China's comtamporary housing evolution.The shaping of this so-called urban village informal housing could be attributed to the sophisticated urban housing experience of Cantonese speaking area,where Hong Kong played a key role in modern time.
