The"Neural Turn"in ArchitecturePerception and Intuition-Driven Structural Design Education
This paper reviews the strategies and limitations of integrating architectural and structural teaching in history, and explores the mismatch between problem-solving,optimization-focused structural engineering thinking, and the needs of architectural design and teaching.Inspired by the Austin method and cognitive neuroscience's"neural turn",it proposes a equilibrium and design-oriented structural teaching approach, and demonstrates the experience and value from an interdisciplinary structural teaching perspective through the design courses at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
