The Evolution and Transformation of the Architectural Theoretical Discourse in the Past 70 Years of Architectural Journal
This paper outlines the evolution and transformation of the theoretical discourse of Chinese architecture over the past seventy years through an examination of published papers on Architecture Journal. It studies the three phases with different agendas, that is,the theoretical discourse calibrated by national political discourse between 1954 and 1979,"the introduction of Western architectural theories"along the rise of"architectural creation"between 1980 and 1999,and the shift from the appeal of"architectural theory with Chinese characteristics"to engagement with"the fundamentals of architecture".It ends up with the relation of theories and practices, and rethinks the question of"two kinds of architecture"and architectural"detournement"in response to the connotation and extension of architecture.
