Historiography of Modern and Contemporary Chinese Architecture and Related Issues
Starting from looking at the different ways of commem-orating the anniversaries of Architectural Journal,taking the retrospective articles and historical research papers about modern Chinese architecture published in the journal as a clue,with consulting the relevant literature,this paper examines the writing backgrounds,motivations,authorship,viewpoints,methods and the questions they faced during different periods,and shows the trajectory of how historiography and research of modern and contemporary Chinese architecture became an academic research field independent from serving propaganda purpose,with gradually enriched research tools,topics and interpretations,and changing ideas on history along the process.It also discusses the ways and features of these writings in the Chinese context,and related questions of scholarship.
