外文摘要：This paper first delineates the development of the mechanisms of Western architectural competitions that played a vital role in architectural education,talent selection,and development of the architectural industry and market in the West.The second part explicates the difference from the Western model of architectural competitions in the socialist countries,such as implementation of governmental policies,promotion of architectural industry,realization of social mobilization,etc.The last section uses the published sources of architectural competitions in Architectural Journal in the 1950s and 1960s to examine the characteristics of the Chinese paradigm,in relation to the historical contribution to the development of Chinese architectural industry.
