"Zaoxing":A Concept and Method of"Form"in Modern Chinese Architecture
"Zaoxing",as a special architectural concept of"form,"began to be widely accepted and discussed in the Chinese architectural community in the 1950s.This paper traces its discourse construction process through"the study of folk houses"and its long-term interaction as a design method emphasizing"artistic effect and feeling"with"principles of composition".By further examining the comprehensive architectural"method of zaoxing"developed by architect Shang Kuo,this paper reveals that the rise and development of architectural"zaoxing"is the result of multiple factors such as complex political discourse, historical research, and modern thoughts in China since the 1950s,pointing out the profound influence of sustained artistic concepts.
