Cast-in-Place Concrete Structures under the Influence of Prefabrication ThinkingA Study of the Construction System of the Hong Kong Club Building
In architectural design,a significant question lies in how to integrate various construction systems to leverage their respective strengths and create unique architectural features. This paper employs graphical analyses to examine the Hong Kong Club Building and related case studies. It reveals that the seemingly counterintuitive approach of achieving prefabricated effects through cast-in-place concrete can harness the high performance, flexibility, and constructional expression of prefabrication systems while mitigating the challenges associated with transportation, installation, and monotony. This innovative design strategy offers new insights into the design and research of precast and cast-in-place concrete.
