The Oriental Tradition RepresentedJapanese Exhibition House of"House in the Garden"Series in the Museum of Modern Art
This paper analyzes the 1954 MoMA Japanese Exhibition House as a whole within the House in the Garden series,pointing out the social concerns and diplomatic demands of the organizer and sponsors behind it.Through a comparative study of the traditional archetype of the Japanese Exhibition House and its"representation"in the modern context,it reveals the similarities and differences between traditional Japanese architecture and modern Western architecture.From a cross-cultural perspective,it explores the roles and positions of East and West in this typical case of oriental influence,as well as the design value and historical significance of this project.
