Objective To explore the impact of mental health literacy on the competence of college psychological commissioners and its underlying mechanisms.Methods 430 college psychological commissioners were measured using the National Mental Health Literacy Questionnaire,Chinese version of the Personal Growth Initiative Scale,Coping Efficacy Scale,and Psychological Commissar Competency Characteristics Questionnaire.Results The correlation analysis showed that mental health literacy,personal growth initiative,and coping efficacy were significantly positively correlated with the competence of psychological commissioners.The results of the mediation effect analysis show that mental health literacy can significantly positively predict the competence of psychological commissioners,and the single mediation and chain mediation effects of personal growth initiative and coping efficacy between mental health literacy and psychological commissioners competence are both valid.Conclusion The improvement of the mental health literacy of college psychological commissioners can effectively promote personal growth initiative,thereby having a higher level of coping efficiency,and assisting in the construction of peer psychological service teams in universities.
