As an important part of traditional Chinese buildings,folk houses carry local culture,customs and skills,and are living fossils of traditional architectural art and structural techniques,and are also the objects of learning for many architects.Hunan region has complex landforms and many ethnic minorities,due to the rich human geographical environment,the style of traditional folk houses shows the diversity characteristics.Based on the results of field research and referring to the"official"norms in the"Treatise on Architectural Methods",this paper sorts out and summarizes the shape and structural characteristics of Ming and Qing Dynasty mansion-type folk houses in northern and eastern Hunan regions from the perspective of"localization".
