Statistical Study on the Motion Trajectory of Rockfalls on the Slope of an Open-pit Mine—Taking a Mine in Inner Mongolia as an Example
Effective and accurate estimation of the trajectory of rockfalls on open-pit mine slopes is of great significance for rockfall protection and mine safety production.Taking the slope of an open-pit mine in Inner Mongolia as an example,RocFall software is used to conduct simulation research on the trajecto-ry of rockfalls. The statistical rules of the trajectory and position distribution of rockfalls from the surface and top of foot step slope,as well as the entire slope of the mining site are obtained, and suggestions are proposed for protecting rockfalls. The investigation results indicate that the maximum distance from the fi-nal position of the rockfalls of the surface and top of the foot step slope to the foot of the mine slope is no more than 18 m.The motion range of the rockfalls of the entire slope can be divided into four intervals, and the maximum distance between the final position of the rockfalls and the foot of the mine slope is no more than 9 m.The existing safety platform can effectively protect the rockfalls. This study provides a theoretical basis for protection of rockfalls in the mine and also serves as a reference for similar projects.
