Prediction of Permeability Coefficient of Unsaturated Artificially Prepared Heritage Site Soil
Most of the ancient sites in Northwest China are in an unsaturated state, and the permeability of unsaturated artificially prepared heritage site soil is crucial for the long-term integrity and stability of these sites. The soil-water characteristic curve(SWCC)of artificially prepared heritage site soil is meas-ured by the unsaturated soil consolidometer, and the measured data are fitted using the V-G model. At the same time, the saturated permeability coefficient of the artificially prepared heritage site soil is meas-ured by the falling head permeabiling method.Based on the measured SWCC,the Childs & Collis-George model is employed to predict the permeability coefficient of the unsaturated artificially prepared heritage site soil. The relationship curves between volumetric water content, matric suction, and the permeability coefficient is established. The research results show that the mixing amount of glutinous rice slurry has a certain influence on the SWCC of artificially prepared heritage site soil.As the mixing amount of gluti-nous rice slurry increases, the air entry value increases while the saturated water permeability coefficient of artificially prepared heritage site soil decreases with the increasing glutinous rice slurry content. For a same quality ratio of the soil and glutionous rice slurry, the unsaturated permeability coefficient of the ar-tificially prepared heritage site soil increases with increasing volumetric water content and initially decrea-ses rapidly with increasing matric suction before leveling off.At a constant matric suction, the unsaturat-ed permeability coefficient decreases with increasing glutionous rice slurry content.
