Screening and evaluation methods for resistance of 13 adzuki bean varieties to Tetranychus pueraricola
In order to screen out adzuki bean varieties with strong resistance, finding the best evaluation method of adzuki bean resistance to Tetranychus pueraricola, this study evaluated the mite resistance of 13 adzuki bean varieties by five identification methods, including harm index of leaves, insect density in pot plants, mite quantity ratio method, chlorophyll content and natural population density in the field. The results of correlation analysis showed that the five resistance identification methods had a high consistency, and the correlation among them reached a highly significant level(P<0.01).These methods can be used to evaluate the resistance of Vigna angularis varieties to T.pueraricola.The significant level of the correlation coefficient was the largest(0.971)between the field natural population density method and the mite ratio method, which could be used as the best evaluation method for the resistance evaluation.Based on the cluster analysis about resistance indexes of five mite resistance identification methods,13 red bean varieties were divided into five categories, and Nongken Red and Pearl Red were identified as high resistance level(HR)cultivars, and Tianjin Hong and Zhonghong No.7 were identified as high susceptibility level(HS)cultivars. The results of resistance identification can be used as the basis for cultivation layout of adzuki bean in Heilongjiang Province to continuously and effectively control the damage of tetranychus mite.In addition, the results of this study also provide the basis for selecting the identification methods of resistance plant to mite.
