Scanning electron microscopic observations of the antennal sensilla of Batocera rufomaculata(Degeer)(Coleoptera:Cerambycidae)
Batocera rufomaculata is a destructive pest by drilling the trunks of Moringa, which seriously affect the Moringa industry. To ascertain the type and distribution of sensilla can provide the basis for electrophysiological research. The antennae of B.rufomaculata were scanned by scanning electron microscope. The results showed that there were 9 kinds of sensilla distributed on the antennae, sensilla chaetica, sensilla basiconica, sensilla trichodea, sensilla auricillica, sensilla placodea, sensilla gemmiformium, sensilla digit-like,sensilla grooved peg and Böhm bristles; The sensilla was mainly distributed in the flagellum;Sexual dimorphism existed in the type and distribution of antennal sensilla; The sensilla distributed in the end of antennae was more dense than that in the base, the end may played a major role in sensing external stimuli.
