Geological characteristics and ore controlling factors of the Baimashan bauxite deposit in Fuquan,Guizhou
The Baimashan bauxite deposit in Fuquan is one of the typical sedimentary bauxite deposits in the Kaili-Huangping bauxite mineralization belt.A systematic analysis of the geological characteristics and con-trolling factors of bauxite deposits in the area shows that:the ore body is located in the Liangshan Formation of the Yangxin Series of the Permian, appearing as a layered and lens shaped deposit on the ancient erosion surface of the Tongzi Formation of the Lower Ordovician. The main mineral composition of the ore is dia-spore,which mainly includes three types of ore:dense, fragmented, and pisolitic. The formation of bauxite is significantly controlled by factors such as ore bearing strata, structural conditions, paleoclimatic condi-tions,and lithofacies paleogeographic conditions.
