The geochemical anomaly characteristics and prospecting target optimization of the lateritic nickel deposits in the north Maluku islands area of Indonesia
Lateritic nickel deposits have become the focus of global nickel development and utilization due to their large proven reserves and easy mining.Taking a lateritic nickel deposit in northern Hamahera Island,North Maluku Province,Indonesia as the research object, five comprehensive anomalies of Ni,Co,Cr and Cu were delineated by 1∶25,000 soil geochemical survey. On the basis of comprehensive anomalies,anom-aly verification is carried out,and then the prospecting target area is delineated. The results show that the area has vertical zoning of ore-forming elements(5 zoning),and the content of ore-forming elements increa-ses first and then decreases, which is the most abundant in strongly weathered residual laterite.
