Modem Sovereign Types,Frontier Views and Knowledge Production
As the benchmark of a modern state,modem sovereignty is a product of the expansion of the secular states in Europe.Hence,we have expansive sovereignty vs.autonomous sovereignty,and their corresponding views of the frontier.In order to make excuses for expansion,expansive sovereignty has never stopped its propa-ganda,and its frontier view is outwardly aggressive to the extent of regarding the internal affairs of other sover-eign countries as part of the security of its own"frontier."By contrast,an autonomous sovereignty is introvert,with the effort of border region construction focused on ensuring development domestically and peaceful coexis-tence outwardly.After its rise as a typical autonomous sovereign country,China needs to promote the long-term modernizing development of its border areas and strengthen its sovereign construction in every respect.On the frontier issue,knowledge production with autonomous sovereignty awareness must be meant to counter the sep-aratist discourse in China's border ethnic regions provoked by the expansive sovereign states and certain intel-lectuals.In terms of self-reflection,it is necessary to look squarely into the historical and social changes in the work of ethnic minorities in the border areas,and make substantial efforts to promote the study of consolidating and revitalizing our frontiers.
