Dong Qichang, the most famous calligrapher and painter in the late Ming dynasty, has also made great achievements in literary creation. His four years as Shu Ji Shi in the Imperial Academy was an important stage in Dong Qichang's poetic creation.Although his Guanke poems were stained with the elegance of praising the merits and virtues, they were generally expressed in two styles:generous caprice and elegant legitimism, and some of these poems bear favourable comparison with Tang poetry of the same subject.Exploring Guanke poems created by Dong Qichang is not only helpful to understand his outstanding literary ability, but also of great benefit to the study of his early frame of mind.
