Wang Shipeng was a renowned top scholar of the Southern Song Dynasty,as well as an outstanding poet, and his dual identity granted him a special position in the poetry circle of the Southern Song Dynasty.Due to Wang Shipeng's greater reputation in politics than his literary influence, most researches on him in later generations focused on his life and political career, resulting in a relative lag in the study of his poetry.Although belonging to different dynasties,Wang Shipeng and Su Shi shared similarities in their personal experiences and thoughts on conduct.Wang Shipeng even provided annotations for Su Shi's poems. An analysis of The Annotation and Classification of Mr.Dongpo's Poems reveals that Wang Shipeng favored Su Shi's seven-word poems, providing relatively more annotations for them. Many of Wang Shipeng's poetic allusions were derived from Su Shi's works, and he frequently quoted from them as well, which mode his poetry style also shares similarities with that of Su Shi.
