In 2018,six archaeological sites were newly discovered in Jiangle County located near the upper reaches of the Min River.Amongst them, the Longdengshan and Jinglongshan sites were excavated.Unearthed artifacts include stone cores, flakes, stone tools, broken chunks and flakes, etc. The stone tool assemblage exhibits characteristics of the South China cobble industry. At the Longdengshan site, relatively large choppers predominate.Although large-size choppers were also found at the Jinglongshan site, the percentage of small and medium sized points and scrapers is noticeably higher. The date of these two sites is likely the early phase of the Late Pleistocene, based on analysis of topography, stratigraphic deposits, and cultural features.
