Since 2016,excavations have been conducted at the south mound of the Qujialing Locus.Dwelling features including houses, collapse deposits, midden pits, burned earth pits, and post holes dating to the Qujialing and Shijiahe cultures have been uncovered. This area has been preliminary identified as a core dwelling area during the Qujialing culture period.Recovered materials predominantly date to the late phase of the early Qujialing through the early phase of the late Qujialing culture, providing crucial data for investigating the intra-settlement functional layout and its diachronic changes,as well as the social transformations and civilizational trajectory of the Jianghan region.
