In the Lingnan region, the presence of asterisk-patterned pottery primarily derived from influences originating in the Jiangsu and Zhejiang areas. These artifacts first appeared during the late phase of the late Spring and Autumn period. The trend towards flattening bases among flat-bottomed kui dragon-patterned pottery vessels reflects gradual replacement of kui dragon-patterned pottery remains. This trend influenced the development of traditional pottery in Lingnan, resulting in the prevalence of flat-bottomed vessels, although impact on decorative patterns was limited.Flat-bottomed kui dragon-patterned pottery, alongside pottery assemblages originating from Lingnan with non-asterisk-shaped patterns and non-fixed decorations, constitute the comprehensive assemblage of asterisk-patterned pottery remains.Viewed in tandem with the presence of bronze vessels and tombs with waist-pits among the Yue people in present-day Hunan, this assemblage manifests influence from external archaeological cultures.
