From 2020-2021,extensive excavations were conducted by the Zhejiang Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology et al.at the Beicun site, located to the south of the Liangzhu Ancient City in Yuhang District,Hangzhou City,Zhejiang Province.Main deposits at the Beicun South Locus belong to the early phase of the early Liangzhu culture, represented by enclosures, houses, midden pits, midden ditches, water wells, ancient river channels, and burials, etc.,in addition to artifacts made of jade, stone, and pottery. The concentration of Liangzhu aristocratic residential areas and cemeteries,as well as commoner residential areas and cemeteries at the Beicun South Locus, indicate clear social differentiation, providing significant data for study of early social conditions and class differentiation in the Liangzhu culture.
