The Keqiutou site cluster is located in the northern part of Pingtan Island, distributed continuously along leeward slopes of the eastern foothills of coastal mountains. This cluster includes sites such as Keqiutou,Xiying,Donghuaqiu, and Guishan.Remains from various stages form a comprehensive archaeological cultural sequence. This sequence includes indigenous cultures, represented by round-bottomed sand-tempered pottery,as well as examples demonstrating external influence from cultures such as the Huangguashan and Huangtulun. These remains provide important material for exploring the development of and exchange among prehistoric cultures in southeastern coastal regions,as well as the origins and migrations of early Austronesian peoples. The subsistence patterns of these early Austronesian peoples were quite diverse, exhibiting both continental and maritime characteristics.
