Abstract
The Shuangdun culture underwent developmental transition, from predominantly using fu cauldrons to balanced emphasis on ding tripods and cauldrons. The rise and spread of pottery tripods exhibited a west-to-east movement pattern.Influenced by the Peiligang culture in the upper Huai River,Shuangdun pottery tripods rapidly developed after integrating local characteristics. They spread in phases to the lower Huai River, the Haidai region, and the Lake Taihu area.Throughout this dissemination process, the Shuangdun culture acted as a crucial intermediary, instigating a significant shift from use of composite-form cooking vessels to single-bodied cooking vessels. This transition propelled eastern coastal regions from the era of pottery cauldrons into the era of pottery tripods, gradually creating a tripod-centered cultural sphere oriented towards the ocean.
