From July to September 2023,the Henan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology conducted excavations at the Dengzhai site in support of a cultural heritage preservation project related to the construction of the Yelu Expressway in the Lushan section.A total of seven pit tombs dating to the Erlitou culture were discovered, yielding several sets of grave goods, including high-ranking items such as white pottery and turquoise objects.Although preservation of human remains in the tombs was relatively poor, this excavation has provided valuable information for understanding the cultural characteristics, burial systems, and spread of the Erlitou culture in southern and southwestern Henan Province.
