Evaluation of Carbon Unlocking Efficiency from the Perspective of Carbon Neutrality———A Case Study of Manufacturing Industry in Fujian Province
In the context of carbon neutrality targets, there is an urgent need for low-carbon green transition in economic development. This study evaluated the carbon unlocking efficiency of the manufacturing industry in Fujian Province, and provided a reference for the low-carbon transition of the national manufacturing industry. The Slacks-Based Measure(SBM)model of super-efficiency was used to statically measure the panel data of 31 sub-industries in the manufacturing industry in Fujian Province from 2015 to 2022,and the Malmquist-Luenberger index was employed to analyze the dynamic changes of carbon unlocking efficiency. This study found that eight industries, such as leather, fur, feather and related products and footwear manufacturing, and furniture manufacturing were more efficient in carbon unlocking, while five industries, including textiles and chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing were less efficient.Dynamic analysis showed that the decomposition indicators of carbon unlocking efficiency fluctuated significantly during the study period, and that pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency had different impacts on the carbon unlocking efficiency of various sub-industries.Accordingly,policy recommendations were put forward to promote technological innovation and application, optimize industrial structure, improve policy support and market mechanisms, and strengthen regulation and social participation,in order to enhance the efficiency of carbon unlocking in the manufacturing industry in Fujian Province, and achieve green and efficient development.
