University libraries play an important role in the popularization of scientific and cultural knowledge by carrying out various forms and rich content of science popularization services,explaining professional scientific and technological knowledge to the general public.This paper systematically investigates the popular science promotion services of 25 university libraries in Australia,analyzes their service purposes,holding modes and activity types,and summarizes the current situation and characteristics of their popular science promotion services.In view of the construction of popular science in China's university libraries,the paper proposes that the development strategy should be optimized from the aspects of broadening the field of popular science,enriching the form of activities,building a popular science brand,paying attention to user needs,and strengthening publicity channels,so as to provide reference for China's university libraries to carry out better popular science services and accelerate the improvement of scientific literacy of the whole people.
