Research on Particle Separation Efficiency and Dehydration Capability of Hydrocyclone for Slurry Separation
The hydrocyclone separator is widely used in the field of slurry treatment, with the functions of particle classification and dehydration. The underflow particle size is large and the concentration is high, and the overflow is on the contrary. The theoretical boundary between the particle sizes is defined as the separation particle diameter(dC).In engineering practice, the particle separation of overflow and underflow deviates from dC nonlinearly. Therefore, the measurement and control of actual grade efficiency and dehydration rate are crucial for slurry treatment. In order to deduce the efficiency of overall and single grades with the combination of sieve analysis, based on the slurry treatment system of a slurry shield project, the laser particle size distribution was used to measure the size composition of feed flow, underflow and overflow of hydrocyclone separators. The results were compared with the separation efficiency calculated by macro test.Besides, the distributary relationship among particles, water and slurry in the normal operation of separators was analyzed,of which the determination method was proposed. The results show that the method with laser particle sizer is fast and effective within the range of the sizer, and the particle separation deviated from dC significantly. With the constant parameters of separator, the overall efficiency and dehydration rate are negatively correlated, which are not affected by particle properties and test methods. The adjustment of equipment, such as the underflow outlet enlargement, can increase both simultaneously.
