Current Situation and Influencing Factors of Elderly People Receiving Intergenerational Support from Their Children
The data from the China Elderly Health Survey(CLHLS)on elderly people aged 60 and above to is used to analyze the current status of elderly people in Shandong Province receiving three types of intergenerational support from their children,as well as the key factors affecting their support patterns,using OLS(ordinary least squares)model,binary Logit model,and Ordered Probit model.The results indicate that elderly people generally receive financial support,emotional care,and daily care from their children.The main factors that affect intergenerational support include the age,health status,living distance with children,spouse status,and the availability of retirement benefits for the elderly.Specifically,the annual income level of the elderly significantly affects the provision of support.Targeted social policies should be formulated to meet the needs of the elderly.It is suggested to optimize the social security system,and improve urban and rural transportation infrastructure,expand the scope of community support networks and promote diversified community participation,enhance internal family interaction and promote harmonious intergenerational relationships.Provide reference for optimizing the intergenerational support system for children based on actual situations.
