Consumption Upgrading,Government-enterprise Cooperation and Overcapacity
Promoting consumption upgrading is of great practical significance in effectively resolving the China-style overcapacity caused by the surge of low-end technology investment.Based on the perspective of government-enterprise cooperation, industrial panel data, generalized moment estimation(GMM)and panel data were used to empirically test the research hypothesis of consumption upgrading to inhibit overcapacity. The results show that consumption upgrading effectively inhibits overcapacity. This conclusion holds after considering potential endogeneity problems and a series of robustness tests.Further, the mechanism test shows that consumption upgrading prevents enterprises from choosing low-end technology production through the channel of government and enterprise cooperation, thus curbing overcapacity.A certain theoretical reference and practical basis for resolving overcapacity in China are provided.
