Based on panel data spanning of 270 cities in China from 2007 to 2021,a multi-temporal double-difference model was formulated to theoretically delve into and empirically examine the influence of innovative city pilot policies on the technological complexity of urban exports.It is found that these policies effectively gather innovation resources,stimulate urban innovation vitality and improve the technological complexity of urban exports.Notably,this positive impact shows substantial variations among cities with diverse sizes,locations and resource endowments.The conclusion remains robust after a series of rigorous tests.Mechanism analysis finds that innovative city pilot policies can enhance the level of urban innovation and optimize industrial structure,thereby contributing to the technological sophistication of exports.
