Journal Distribution Analysis of Multi-disciplinary Nobel Prize Level Paper in 1979-2019
Many researchers, including 2018 Nobel Prize winner Tasuku Honjo, argue that Nobel Prize level papers are often not published in top journals. This opinion has not been confirmed by data, but it is quite popular. It may have negative impact on the development of Chinese academic journals and scientific research activities. This paper analyzes the journal distribution of Nobel Prize level papers in seven disciplines(Mathematics,Physics,Chemistry,Biology,Medi-cine,Geoscience and Economics)for discussing whether or not breakthrough papers are often to publish in top journals.Breakthrough papers from seven disciplines from 1979 to 2019 were retrieved, journal impact factors, journal ranking in JCR in paper publication year had been collected and analysed.Statistical results show that majority breakthrough papers in seven disciplines had been published in top journals. So the opinion that breakthrough papers had often been not pub-lished in top journals which many researchers including 2018 Nobel laureate Tasuku Honjo agreed is not right on the whole.
