There is an inextricable link between Chinese characters,calligraphy and the Chinese language cur-riculum of compulsory education.Firstly,Chinese characters carry the genes of thousands of years of Chinese civi-lization and are the foundation of calligraphy and Chinese language education;secondly,Chinese language as a subject is the carrier of the beauty and rhythm of calligraphy;and finally,calligraphy and literature also mirror each other and are the best expression of the humanistic nature of the Chinese language curriculum.At the com-pulsory education level,calligraphy education is important for students'Chinese language learning:to feel the beauty of the form of calligraphy,effectively strengthening students'learning of Chinese character culture;to ap-preciate the inner beauty of calligraphy,effectively enhancing students'inheritance of traditional culture;and to create the structural beauty of calligraphy,effectively cultivating students'mastery of writing habits.Given the importance of calligraphy education in the cultivation of human beings,Chinese language teachers in primary and secondary schools can reasonably integrate it in three ways:transforming teaching philosophy to improve their own calligraphy teaching;enriching teaching methods to stimulate students'interest in calligraphy learning;and developing curriculum resources to optimize students'calligraphy learning environment.
