Advanced Economic Geography is the core section and main course of the postgraduate curriculum sys-tem for human geography.Strengthening the ideological and political construction of Advanced Economic Geogra-phy is an inevitable move to adapt to the reform of education and teaching in universities in the new era,and a strategic initiative to implement the fundamental mission of fostering virtue through education.Based on the intro-duction of the nature,teaching objectives and teaching content of the Advanced Economic Geography course,this article puts forward the overall idea of the ideological and political design and practice of the course from the as-pects of teaching concepts,teaching goals,teaching methods and safeguard measures.First,it is proposed to build a teaching philosophy of"cultivating both morals and professionalism,and having both ability and political integ-rity"and a multi-objective-led teaching goal of"knowledge creation—value guidance—ability innovation".Sec-ond,it deeply excavates and condenses the ideological and political themes,including philosophy of geography,scientific spirit,love for the country,ecological civilization,geographical and national conditions,technological in-novation,dedication to work,and a community with a shared future for mankind.Third,a teaching organization method that integrates"teacher guidance,student leadership and group tutoring"is proposed.Finally,safeguard measures for the ideological and political practice from the perspective of teaching effect evaluation and course as-sessment measures are put forward.
