Objective:This study aimed to investigate the needs for the artificial intelligence(AI)courses in medi-cal undergraduates under the background of new medicine. The finding will serve to inform the designing of AI courses suitable for general medical colleges.Method:From October to November in 2023,a cross-sectional sur-vey was conducted among 105 medical undergraduates from grade 2020 to 2023 in Anhui Medical University by using Questionnaire Star, according to relevant literature and government documents.A total of 103 valid ques-tionnaires were collected.Results:67.96%(70/103)of the students believed that"AI+healthcare"would have an impact on their future career.86.41%(89/103)of them thought that they needed AI knowledge used to assist healthcare.94.17%(97/103)of them got AI knowledge through social media and online videos, while 66.02%(68/103)of the students had poor knowledge about AI.There were 50.49%(52/103)of the students with programming skills.67.96%(70/103)of them needed to learn the more accessible knowledge of AI,90.29%(93/103)of them were interested in the medical cases about application of AI,and 46.6%(48/103)of them were inclined to accept AI medical education as elective courses. There was no significant difference between clinical medicine students and other medical students in terms of the impact of"AI+healthcare"on their career, the understanding of AI technology, the motivation to learn AI knowledge and the form of AI courses(c2 values were 3.401,1.825,5.418 and 3.977 respectively, and all P values were greater than 0.05).Conclusion:Medical undergraduates were inter-ested in learning AI knowledge, with poor programming skills.Elective courses were preferred to recommend as main form in medical AI education.
