Science education in primary and secondary schools in China is undergoing important reforms and de-velopment.In recent years,significant achievements have been made in improving students'scientific compe-tency and innovation ability,strengthening the professional ability and teaching quality of the teaching staff.How-ever,due to the fact that the concept of science education in primary and secondary schools has not been indepen-dently proposed for a long time,especially with the rapid updating of science and technology and educational methods,there are many aspects that need to be improved in science education in primary and secondary schools.This article combines the authors'experience and thinking in guiding science and technology competitions for primary and secondary school students,proposes the idea of using competitions to promote science education and teaching in primary and secondary schools.Taking the"Returning to Nature—Human Power Generation is the Most Valuable Green Energy"project and completion process completed by three primary school students as an example,it demonstrates the achievements of using competitions to promote learning.Practice has proven that pro-moting learning through competitions is an effective method in science education in primary and secondary schools.It can stimulate students'interest in learning and innovative spirit,improve their ability to think and solve complex problems,and improve their overall quality.Finally,some suggestions were put forward for promot-ing learning through competitions in science education in primary and secondary schools,and it was called on all sectors of society to pay attention to and participate in home-school collaborative education as a supplement,con-tributing to the success of science education in primary and secondary schools in China.
