Challenges and strategies in performance management and classroom teaching quality in universities
Universities carry significant responsibilities in nurturing talents, conducting scientific research, and providing social services, with effective classroom teaching serving as a pivotal means to accomplish these goals.Currently, universities strive to enhance resource utilization efficiency and faculty sense of responsibility through the implementation of performance management systems, which also aim at inspiring teachers'passion for teach-ing.However,excessive emphasis on performance metrics can potentially lead to teachers overlooking teaching quality, compromising it in order to meet assessment criteria.Consequently, universities must adopt measures to strike a balance between teaching and performance management, ensuring the maintenance of high teaching stan-dards.These measures include but are not limited to:implementing rigorous teaching qualification systems,im-proving grassroots teaching organizations, establishing a fair and scientifically sound evaluation system for both teaching and learning,as well as devising comprehensive performance management plans.By adopting these strat-egies,universities can better fulfill their mission of nurturing talents and contribute effectively to the cause of so-cialist modernization.
