Using the 2020 China Rural Revitalization Survey(CRRS)data and propensity score matching method(PSM),this paper empirically tests the impact of land transfer on farmers'purchase of agricultural insurance. The results show that inward transfer signifi-cantly promotes farmers'purchase of agricultural insurance, and the larger the inward transfer scale, the more it promotes farmers'pur-chase of agricultural insurance. On the contrary, outward transfer significantly inhibits farmers from purchasing agricultural insurance. The occurrence of disasters can enhance farmers'precautionary motive, which has a significant intermediary effect between inward trans-fer and farmers'purchase of agricultural insurance.Heterogeneity analysis shows that the effect of inward transfer to promote farmers to buy agricultural insurance was more significant in non-major grain producing areas and northern provinces. In order to realize the sustain-able development of agriculture in large-scale operation, agricultural insurance products should be designed reasonably, and the level of agricultural insurance protection should be appropriately improved to meet the different risk protection needs of large-scale farmers.
