Traditional financial service deficiencies have become a major constraint on SMEs'risk-taking;banks are main providers of corporate financial services in China's financial system, and it is worthwhile to explore whether the digital transformation of banks can become an important driving force to enhance SMEs'risk-taking level.Based on this, this paper empirically examines the actual impact and internal mechanism of banks'digital transformation on SMEs'risk-taking level. It is found that banks'digital transformation can sig-nificantly increase the risk-taking level of SMEs and it can be realized through two paths:reducing the cost of corporate debt financing and intensifying the competition in the banking sector. This study not only helps to deepen the understanding of the effect of the digital transformation of the financial industry represented by the digital transformation of banks on the economic development of Chinese enter-prises,but also provides useful insights for commercial banks to further deepen the digital transformation, improve the financial services for the real economy, help SMEs take risks and release economic vitality.
