The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Carbon Emissions-Empirical Analysis Based on Mediation and Threshold Effects
Based on the panel data of 30 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China(excluding Xizang,Hong Kong,Macao and Taiwan)from 2010 to 2021,this paper analyzes the impact of artificial intelligence(AI)on carbon emissions by using the fixed effect model, mediation model and threshold effect model. The results indicate that there is a significant inverted U-shaped rela-tionship between AI and carbon emissions;the upgrading of industrial structure and technological innovation play a mediating role in the impact of AI on carbon emissions;the impact of AI on carbon emissions is non-linear.Therefore,when formulating emission reduc-tion policies, regional differences should be fully considered.By optimizing industrial structure, enhancing technological innovation ca-pabilities,and promoting the rational application of artificial intelligence technology, targeted policy recommendations should be pro-posed to achieve differentiated management of regional carbon emissions and green transformation.
