The Yinchuan-Zhongwei Railway is an important part of the Beijing-Baotou-Lanzhou railway corri-dor,and it is the only single-line section in the corridor,which has become a bottleneck to exert the capacity of the corridor.Based on the current national passenger and freight OD exchange,this paper adopts the four-stage method,the production and marketing balance method and the growth rate method to forecast the passenger and freight volume of the Yinchuan-Zhongwei Railway,and analyzes the necessity of its expansion and transformation from the perspective such as responding to policies,improving the road network,stimulating economy,boosting in-dustrial development and consolidating the achievements in poverty relief,so as to provide support for the decision-making and implementation of the project.
