Most of small reservoirs in a county in Guangdong Province were built in the 1950s and 1960s,and they were dominated by homogeneous earth dams.The construction period of these reservoirs is early,and most of them have a series of problems such as earth dam leakage,cowhide swelling,the aging and leakage of water-conveyance culverts and the frequent erosional damage of soil spillways.Based on the analysis of common problems in small res-ervoirs,and combined with the current reinforcement technology,the paper describes and discusses the reinforce-ment measures applicable to common problems from the three aspects of water-retaining buildings,water-drainage buildings and water-conveyance buildings,so as to provide certain references for the reinforcement design project of similar small reservoirs in the future.
