Research on the Application of the Pixel Equivalent Method in the Measurement of Standing Volume
In order to study the application of the pixel equivalent method in the measuresure of standing volume, the standing volume of ginkgo trees is measured by the pixel equivalent method and the sectional measurement of central sections with the unequal length of segments according to the photos of standing trees taken by smart-phones,and the effects of the number of different photographic orientations and different sections on the accuracy of standing volume are analyzed. The results reveal that the absolute value of the relative error of standing volume decreases with the increase of the number of photographic orientations, among which, the relative error of the standing volume measured by photos taken from two mutually-perpendicular orientations is less than 1.5%,and that the absolute value of the relative error of standing volume decreases with the increase of the number of sec-tions,and the absolute value of the relative error of standing volume is within 1.4%when the number of sections is 5~8,which shows that it is necessary to use at least two mutually-perpendicular orientations to take the photos of standing trees and the number of sections should be at 5~8 when accurately measuring standing volume by the pixel equivalent method.
